People killin’, People dyin,’
Children hurtin’, I hear them cryin’…
Where is the love?
The lyrics of a song resound in my head while I am looking at all the news of abuse, rape and murders, especially highlighted this last week.
Some are close to home, and I feel so vulnerable. Where will our help come from, I ask with the Psalmist.
His answer: our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121). Even through these waves of evil, our God is still not slumbering nor sleeping.
He still promises to be the Healer of our hearts, the Protector of our souls, our Strength, and above all, be our Hope.
When we are terrified, when we don’t see a way through the sorrow, when our hearts ache beyond comprehension, He says come to Me and I will give you rest.
Only in Him we will find peace and love that endures forever. “May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.” (Psalm 119:76)
It may not get better from here on, but we can hold onto His promises of love and trust in His goodness while looking full in His wonderful face.
“I would have lost heart unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13 NKJV)
